Sydneysiders set to enjoythe Craft Beer Week festivities

The wait is almost finally over as Sydneysiders get set for the kick off ofSydney Craft Beer Week tomorrow night (17 Oct).

More than 50 of Sydney’s leading venues will host the city’s largest and most exciting celebration of craft beer, with more than 120 beer flavoured events happening from October 17-26.

“This is our biggest year yet. For the first time ever we are also running a Gala event tomorrow night that’s got 18 brewers, burgers by Mary’s, Blue Grass and a commemorative glass from Spiegelau,” said Sydney Craft Beer Week director Joel Connolly.

“We’ve also got some great international guests coming in – Yeastie Boys and Moa from NZ. Cigar City and Sixpoint from US and head brewer of Fullers, John Keeling. And over all of this, we’ve got more beers being made exclusively for the festival than ever before. Well over 50 and maybe more.”

The beer-flavoured festivities start tomorrow night with the Gala Event at The Giant Dwarf Theatre, which will get beer fans prepped for a week of tantalising experiences.

The celebrations will continue throughout the week, with a mix of free and paid events for beer lovers to enjoy including; educational seminars, tap takeovers, beer high teas and even a four course beergustation at the Blackrock Brasserie Beergustation Experiment.

Carriageworks will be home to Sip & Savour, a two-day beer festival within a festival on October 25-26, which will bring together more than 250 craft beers and ciders, alongside local gourmet foods, homebrewing, live music and a range of interactive and educational seminars.

Stone & Wood will bring back The Big Pig Out, featuring four Pigs and all four Stone & Wood beers on tap. The cheekily named [It’s a complete] Sausage-fest! will see Ekim and The Welcome collaborate to present a barbie with a difference, with five gourmet sausages inspired by and accompanied with five of Ekim’s brilliant beers.
