Sydney brewing stalwart, Schwartz Brewery, is expanding with plans for World Square, Sydney, as well as Newcastle on the NSW Central Coast.

Apart from being a ‘real doctor’ – with a degree in ophthalmology and a reputation as one of Australia’s foremost cosmetic surgeons no less – Dr Jerry Schwartz owns 11 hotels, includes the Accor-managed Fairmont Resort ‘M Gallery’ in Leura and Mercure properties in Sydney Central and Canberra.

After beginning brewing as a hobby Schwartz decided that the craft beer scene was the place for him and set about his new mission of becoming one of Sydney’s premier craft brewerys.

With it’s home at Schwartz Brewery, in the old Macquarie Hotel, Dr Schwartz’s beer is on tap and in bottles at all of his hotels as well as being available at the Canberra Craft Beer Festival and the Brew Mountains Beer & Cider Festival – run by the man himself.

And with plans to rebrand the old Macquarie Hotel property as the Sydney Brewhouse to match his expansion into the Sydney Brewery at World Square – where he also owns Rydges – as well as planning a large scale brewery operation in Newcastle – on the land behind the Schwartz-owned Crowne Plaza Hotel – there is no stopping this homegrown craft beer juggernaut.
