The Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) is pulling out all stops this year for their 20th birthday, hosting their inaugural World of Beer – Tastings From Around the Globe event. The unique event, part of Good Beer Week and following their own awards dinner, will be a showcase of some of the world’s best beers.
Featuring premium beers from around the world, the event will bring over 500 of the packaged brews – from ales to stouts, and pilsners to porters to mention but a few – that were featured in this year’s AIBA competition. Many of these beers are not currently available in Australia – coming from places as varied as China, Argentina, Colombia and Austria – making it the perfect opportunity for beer lovers to sample unknown brews.
Ann Houlihan, Manager, Epicure Events at the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) says, “With more than 500 beers on show, AIBA’s World of Beer is the hottest ticket in town for all beer lovers. We are thrilled to be joined by visiting international brewers including past AIBA winners Steve Grossman from Sierra Nevada, Kjetil Jikiun from Nøgne Ø, and Brendan Moylan from Moylan’s Brewery.”
To add to the fun, the US Brewers Association will also be on hand to chat about some of the US entries from the 2012 Awards. Alongside our U.S presence will be award winning Australian breweries; Feral Brew, as well as Australian brewing stars from Higginbotham of Dromana, and the Little Brewing Company.
AIBA’s World of Beer – Tastings From Around the Globe runs for one evening only from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on Friday, 18 May 2012 in The Atrium, Federation Square. Tickets are on sale now.
