We all know that Santa loves his beer – a few billion bottles one night a year doesn’t make you an alcoholic right? – so if you want your kids to leave out something extra tasty to go with those mince tarts and carrot sticks, try one of these special Christmas brews out this year:

Red Hill Christmas Ale – deep orange in colour with a lasting creamy head and spicy hop aroma from Red Hill’s own Hallertauer & Tettnanger hop flowers with a complex malty finish. 8.3% ABV

Moylans White Christmas Spiced Winter Lager – malty and smooth with a light tart and zesty finish, contains holiday spices, Curacao, Mace, Cinnamon, Coriander and White Pepper. 6% ABV

St. Bernardus Christmas Ale – characterised by its deep dark colour, with a creamy, thick head and a full, almost velvety taste with a fruity nose. 10% ABV

Birra Del Borgo 25 Dodici – like Christmas cake in a bottle, full of caramel, chestnut and honey notes. 9.5% ABV

Goodieson Christmas Ale – brewed using the spices of Christmas wrapped up in a Chestnut Brown Ale.6.3% ABV

And if you’re looking for something special to match it with, why not try out some beer cheese on your pre-lunch platter? Hunter Valley cheese-makers Hunterbelle are producing beer feta and beer cheddar that are both made with, and express characters of, Murray’s beers. Get your hands on them at Murray’s Brewery in Port Stephens.

Or there is always the beer for breakfast option… pair one of the above with a toasted slab of Beer Panettone – it’s a totally legitimate Christmas morning option!
