Now Australia’s biggest brewer, Lion Co has led a successful push for high market share with brands such as XXXX Gold and Summer Bright leading the charge.

Despite a contracting beer market, Lion Co’s share has risen half a per cent to 47.5 per cent in the latest data from Neilsen.

This is apparently at the expense of rival Foster’s as their figures dropped alarmingly.

And the gap is set to widen with Lion Co taking of distribution of Corona and winning over a slew of other brands – Stella Artois, Leffe, Guinness and Kilkenny among them.

And that’s not including the potential boost from their move to acquire Little World Beverages – makers of Little Creatures, White Rabbit and Pipsqueak. That deal is set to cruise through in September/October, once it is presented to the company’s shareholders, and will add to the company’s market share with plenty of potential room for further expansion as the craft beer market grows in Australia.
