Lion has announced its new CEO will be Stuart Irvine, as of January 2 2013. currently the CEO of Nestle Russia and Eurasia – controlling a $2 billion beverage and food business with 10,000 people and 14 production sites – Irvine will replace outgoing CEO Rob Murray.

Having worked for Nestle since 1998, Irvine has worked across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland and the Baltics.

According to Sir Rod Eddington, Chairman of the Lion Board, Irvine’s vast experience in consumer goods will be invaluable. “I am delighted to welcome Stuart to Lion,” he said. “His extensive experience in fast moving consumer goods across a diverse range of markets and complex business models will be an asset to Lion.”

Irvine himself added that he is excited to take on such iconic brands at the leading food and beverage business. “I am thrilled to be joining Lion and look forward to getting to know the business and its people from November,” he says. “I am passionate about building brands and thrive on the fast-paced and dynamic environment the consumer goods sector provides. [And] Lion provides the ideal mix of opportunity and challenge in an exciting and continuously evolving market.”

There will be a handover period from November 2012 to ensure the smooth running of the change over.
