Invercargill Brewery has done the southern hemisphere proud, picking up two bronze medals at the recent Alltech Commonwealth Craft Beer Cup in Lexington, Kentucky, last weekend.

Their two winning brews were the Smokin’ Bishop, which is a Manuka Smoked Bock, and their Pitch Black Imperial Stout.

Head Brewer Steve Nally said the USA was at the vanguard of the international craft beer movement, making the result even more special. “We owe a huge thanks to the Alltech New Zealand team – particularly Brendon Corbett,” Steve said in a statement. “They were almost as excited by our Dublin win as we were … to the point they sponsored our entry to Kentucky.”

The overall winner was a Hungarian brewery Zip’s Brewhouse of Miskolc, which was awarded the Alltech Commonwealth Craft Beer Cup for its 2013 Christmas ale.
