The Frenchies Bistro & Brewery team are bringing their house-made beers, a German food menu and themed games back to The Cannery, Rosebery for one day only next month, as their Oktoberfeast event takes over the venue from 12pm on Saturday 21 October.

This year’s line up will include three special beers: an Oak Lager pouring fresh from an oak barrel, a German Hefeweizen and a traditional Festbier. These will all be available alongside the brewery’s latest releases and core range favourites – from hazy IPAs and XPAs, to a pale ale and draught.

Sustenance will be key throughout the day and the food menu is set to feature a wide range of sweet and savoury German delights. These include pretzels, crispy skin pork knuckle drizzled in beer gravy, cheese and potato croquettes, house made weisswurst, bratwurst and currywurst paired with white wine sauerkraut and Kaiserschmarrn – a traditional fluffy-style pancake.

It wouldn’t be Oktoberfeast without a little bit of competition and play, and this year revellers can expect nail hammering, tug of war, a beer glass holding challenge – to see who can hold their full glass for the longest period of time – and a Best Oktoberfeast Outfit competition, where prizes will be up for grabs.

Oktoberfeast tickets are $25 and include access to the games, as well as a branded stein glass, which guests can sip from during the event, and take home with them at the end. Tickets are available for purchase here and at the door on the day.

Frenchies’ co-founder and master brewer Vincent De Soyres said: “We might be French by name, but I’m also half German, so hosting an Oktoberfeast celebration is always a must for us. It’s also a great opportunity for our team to create some special brews for the occasion, which are all perfect for sitting back and sipping in a fun, family friendly atmosphere”.

Fellow co-founder and head chef Thomas Cauquil added: “Frenchies is set to transform into an Oktoberfest-themed oasis for the day, and from the food to the games, there’s set to be something for everyone. We hosted our biggest event yet last year, and are looking forward to bringing even more food and beer lovers together for a celebratory event unlike any other”.
