Get your hands on hot-cross-buns-in-liquid-form again this year as Murray’s gears up to tap their much-loved Easter Ale at their annual Easter Blues and Brews Festival, which returns to Port Stephens this holiday long weekend (29 March-1 April 2013).

The festival will feature free live blues concerts and a ‘Great Easter Egg Hunt’ community fundraiser for children, according to brewery owner, Murray Howe.

“We’re celebrating the season with a feast for the senses,” he says. “There’s something for music lovers, families, and of course beer lovers, with our hugely popular Easter Ale pouring for the long weekend. It tastes like hot cross buns in a glass!” says Murray.

According to Head Brewer, Shawn Sherlock the signature Easter brew is a feast for the senses and a beer-mimics-food sensation.

“Murray’s Easter Ale has strong cinnamon and nutmeg spice aromas blended with bready British malts,” he says. “It’s brewed with a late addition of raisins to really capture the sweet and savoury feel.”

The Brewery Restaurant’s menu – for Port Stephens – will feature a number of holiday weekend specials, made with or matched to the Easter Ale.

Murray’s Blues & Brews lineup for 2013 has also been announced:

FREE blues concert Easter Saturday, featuring Aaron Hood and the Fire King Blues Band from noon.

FREE blues concert Easter Sunday, with swampy blues favourite – Catfish Soup – performing live from midday.

The Fingal Bay Lions Club will run a Great Easter Egg Hunt for children on Easter Sunday, from 11am. There will also be a special Easter raffle with great prizes. All funds raised on the day will go back to the local community.

Brewery Tours will run daily across the weekend, culminating in a complimentary tasting of Murray’s Easter Ale, along with complimentary beer and wine tastings each day.

And the Brewery’s large undercover facilities will ensure that all events will proceed – rain, hail or shine.

Murray’s Brewery and Port Stephens Winery will be open every day across Easter and the school holidays, from 10am.

Bookings are strongly recommended as last year all space booked out fast. Call 02 4982 6411 or email greatbeer@murraysbrewingco.com.au
