Launched on August 29, the You Brew competition will see three teams in each state compete to create a unique beer that will then be judged against the beers created by the other teams at the series finale. The winning beer will be available on tap at the winners’ local James Squire brew bar.
Each competitor will join their local brewbar team for a full day’s brewing, and according to Malt Shovel Head Brewer, Jeff Potter, it is a fantastic opportunity for fans to have a go at being a brewer for a day.
“We are really excited about the You Brew competition, which is a first for James Squire,” he says. “This is an opportunity for beer lovers to really get hands on with their passion and explore the unique creative and technical process of brewing.”
Those interested can register online after answering a few short questions about their favourite beer styles and what kind of beer they would want to create. Entries close September 16.
The competition will run at The Squire’s Maiden, Newcastle (NSW), The James Squire Brewhouse, Melbourne (VIC), The Squire’s Bounty, Hobart (TAS), The Curious Squire, Adelaide (SA), and The Generous Squire, Perth (WA).
