Following the runaway success of this year’s inaugural – sell out – Ballarat Beer Festival, tickets for the 2013 festival will go on sale from today.

Taking place at Ballarat City Oval on January 19, 2013, the second ever festival promises to be a celebration of boutique beer, gourmet food and great Australian entertainment.

Year two also promises an even greater range of craft beer and ciders from the best Australian microbreweries. Confirmed to date are: Holgate Brewhouse, True South, Otway Estate Brewing, Mornington Peninsular Brewery, Bridge Road Brewers, Southern Bay Brewing Co, Kwencher Beer, Kooinda Boutique Brewery, and Hawthorn Brewing Co.

Festival Co-Director, Kate Burrows says the festival is going to be bigger and better next year, showcasing well over 100 different craft beers and ciders. “We’re excited about the support from the craft beer industry,” she says. “And we’re looking forward to over 25 breweries joining us for our second year.”

The team behind the festival also includes hoteliers Simon Coghlan and Tim Kearney who own and run Ballarat’s Golden City and Western Hotels respectively.

Simon Coghlan in particular has a strong link to the brewing history of Ballerat – his great-great-grandfather founded the Ballarat Brewing Company. “We were thrilled with the sell-out event in year one and how enthusiastically it was embraced by the local community,” he says. “We look forward to bringing more great benefits to the city next year.”

Reprising their roles as event MC’s are Australia’s funniest home brewers Charlie Pickering and Danny McGinlay, who will be joined again by The Beer Diva Kirrily Waldhorn.
