If this were an episode of Seasame St, today’s letter would be C.

C for corn, cranberries, Columbian coffee beans, coriander, coconut, chocolate and cherries.

These are just some of the ingredients that will make an appearance at the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular this year in Good Beer Week this year.

Only in it’s second year as a full scale event, GABS is expected to attract 12,000 people keen to try out the experimental brews and one off beers.

And the brewers are loving the opportunity to create something wild – even if things sometimes get out of hand. The NSW based Thirsty Crow and William Bull breweries collaborated on an Oak Aged American Stout with orange zest and espresso, which culminated in Thirsty Crow Head Brewer Craig Wealands grating the zest of 30kg of oranges.

Chocolate is also on the cards with The Australian Brewery (NSW) invented a German breakfast beer with golden naked oats and chocolate, and Bacchus Brewing (QLD) created a white chocolate and raspberry Pilsner.

Not so sure about that? Well, with as many as 150 brews in total to try, there’s no shortage of choice.
