Sydney craft beer venues, Dove & Olive and Keg & Brew in Surry Hills, and The DOG Hotel in Randwick, will celebrate International Beer Day next Friday (5 August) by giving something back to the local community.

The three venues have promised to donate 100 per cent of the proceeds from certain craft beer sales to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The aptly named, Karma Kegs, will be tapped in the morning and served all day until sold out. Keg & Brew will pour Feral’s Hop Hog; Dove & Olive will serve 4 Pines Pale Ale; and The DOG Hotel will feature Stone & Wood Pacific Ale.

Schooners will retail for $8.50, however customers are encouraged to donate as much as they like. Representatives from the breweries will be in the venues from 4pm to talk through the beers and answer any craft beer questions.

“International Beer Day is a global celebration of beer,” explained Nick Porter, licensee at the DOG Hotel.

“It’s a day for beer lovers everywhere to raise a toast to brewers, bartenders and beers, and what better way to celebrate then by tasting some of Australia’s top craft drops and raising money for a great cause at the same time.”

Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Nicola Stokes said the Karma Kegs initiative is a demonstration of how bringing people together to drive positive change can make a significant impact on the lives of others.

“The funds raised at this event will help to ensure that sick and injured children at our hospital get the best possible care. We are truly grateful to everyone involved for their selfless generosity,” she said.
