Ukrainian brewery Ten Men has launched the 100 Collabs campaign to help rebuild the brewery, with Newcastle-based Modus Brewing as the first to release a collaboration beer.

On 24 February 2022, Russia occupied the small Ten Men brewery in the town of Vovchans’k, located on the Russian border, forcing the brewery team and their families to relocate to the relative safety of Lviv in Ukraine’s west.

Understanding the role of small businesses in fostering resilience and community spirit, Ten Men aims to rebuild as a BrewHUB in Lviv, an initiative that will be supported by the 100 Collabs campaign.

Modus is the first brewery to partner with Ten Men, releasing the ‘Can It!’ Hazy Pale Ale using a Ten Men recipe. The beer is produced with a unique dry hopping technique that became necessary to increase the hop profile from fewer hops when supplies became scarce. Ten Men will receive $5 from every case and $1 from every schooner of ‘Can It!’ sold.

Sam Evans, Digital Marketing Manager at Modus, explained the meaning behind the beer’s name.

“We have called the beer ‘Can It!’ after recognising that a large hurdle for the Ten Men team was not having a way to efficiently can their beers. Without reliable access to their own canning system, it makes it very difficult and prohibitively expensive for their team to package and grow their BrewHUB. We are encouraging Aussies to help Ten Men ‘Can It!’ (and telling the war to Can It!) by raising funds in the hope they can purchase their own canning line,” he said.

Sergeii Sotnikov, Founder of Ten Men Brewery, has been encouraged by the industry support for Ten Men.

“We are deeply touched by the support from Modus and the global community. This solidarity gives us hope and strength as we work to rebuild our BrewHUB and our lives. We are immensely grateful for this lifeline during these challenging times,” he said.

Modus encourages individuals, businesses, and organisations to support Ten Men Brewery during this critical period, both by purchasing ‘Can It!’ and through the dedicated GoFundMe page.
