Western Australia’s Cheeky Monkey Brewing has purchased Sound Brewing from administrators, retaining staff and its location in the Perth area.

The company went into administration in September and its venue in Rockingham, about 40km south of Perth’s CBD, will continue to operate as Sound Brewing Co. in the short term but plans are underway to convert it in 2024.

Cheeky Monkey Director, Brent Burton, said it’s a major milestone in the company’s growth.

“At Cheeky Monkey, we see our venues as more than just establishments,” he said.

“This acquisition is a golden opportunity for people in Perth to engage with our brand and enjoy the ‘cheeky’ experience, which is all about sharing exceptional beverages and food with friends and loved ones.”

Fellow director of the Margaret River-based brewer, Brendan Day, said Cheeky Monkey remains committed to Western Australia’s local business landscape and its community.

“Our approach in negotiating terms with the administrators of Sound Brewing Co. was guided by this commitment, allowing us to retain all staff members during the transition phase and the upcoming liquor licence transfer,” he said.

Both directors said the integration of Sound Brewing Co. into the Cheeky Monkey family is just the beginning with the brewers keen to bring high-quality products and exceptional service to more communities.
