Prior to the August opening of its Regency Park brewery and visitors’ centre, Coopers is looking to fill 24 newly created positions, and has hired hospitality hall of famer Peter Morelli as venue manager.

The new $70m development is nearing completion, and will include a restaurant and bar, tasting room, interactive history display, merchandise store, and a large outdoor dining area. A whisky distillery is also under construction. The new positions cover both front and back of house staff, including roles for chefs, beer ambassadors, bar assistants and kitchen hands, as well as head chef, sous chef and assistant manager.

Morelli is looking to establish a talented and passionate team to ensure the best possible customer experience at the new venue.

“There’s a lot of excitement about what’s taking shape at Coopers Brewery,” he said. “This is a rare opportunity to join a great South Australian family company and work in an iconic tourist attraction.

“We’re looking to assemble a team of people who love beer, quality food and great service. Our ideal team members are prepared to learn and grow with us as we strive to establish Coopers as the best beer destination in Australia.”

Morelli brings extensive hospitality experience to the role, having worked at iconic South Australian venues such as the d’Arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale, Penfolds Cellar Doors at Magill Estate and the Barossa Valley, SkyCity, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide Festival Centre and the historic Lion Hotel. He was recognised for his skill and contribution to the industry in 2015, when he was inducted into the Restaurant and Catering Association of Australia’s Hall of Fame.

Morelli described joining Coopers as a career highlight.

“I’ve enjoyed a close association with Coopers throughout my career and have always thought if the right position came along I would love to join this great family business. I’m excited to develop an immersive destination that connects visitors with Coopers’ proud history, provides insight into the brewing process and allows the opportunity to taste the best of Australian beer,” he said.

Coopers Brewery Managing Director, Dr Tim Cooper, said that Morelli’s cellar door experience will be an asset for the new Coopers development.

“Peter impressed us with his passion for exceptional customer service and dedication to creating iconic hospitality offerings. We’re delighted to have Peter on board to help us deliver a truly world-class and welcoming experience for all our guests,” he said.

With two months to go until opening, Morelli is confident that the new Regents Park brewery will be a success.

“Visitors will certainly notice the wow factor when they arrive here,” Morelli said. “The unforgettable experience will focus on ice-cold beers, top-quality food, an enjoyable atmosphere and fantastic service. We want guests to tell their friends and family about it and make it the place they bring visitors from interstate and overseas.”
