AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – SEPTEMBER 11: Andrew Childs of Behemoth Brewing Company arranges his Dump The Trump American Pale Ale on September 11, 2020 in Auckland, New Zealand. Behemoth Brewing Company first created their Dump the Trump American Pale Ale when Donald Trump was nominated in the U.S presidential race in 2016. Originally created as a joke when it was thought Trump would have no chance of being elected, the company stopped making the beer when he became president as “it wasn’t funny anymore.” Behemoth Brewing Company started making the beer again two and a half years ago as things got “more strange” in American politics. Started by Andrew Childs and his wife Hannah Miller Childs seven years ago in Mt Eden, Auckland, Behemoth Brewing Company contract-brews their beer at different breweries around New Zealand but are now setting up their own brewery behind the bar they opened in August 2020. The brewers have created a range of anti-Trump labels including ImPEACHment Sour Ale, Collusion and American Hopped Russian Imperial Stout. Andrew Childs says he hopes after 2020 they won’t have to make Dump the Trump again. Despite receiving negative feedback on social media from Trump supporters when they launched the label, the brewers say they like to refer to pop culture in a satirical way when naming and labelling of their beer.
