All six official Oktoberfest breweries on tap in Brisbane

The Brisbane German Club has announced the return of its beloved Oktoberfest celebration in 2025, which will see all six of the Official Oktoberfest breweries on tap.

In 2025, Augustiner-Bräu, Hacker-Pschorr-Bräu, Staatliches Hofbräuhaus, Löwenbräu, Paulaner Brauerei, and Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu – which collectively make up the six approved breweries serving at Munich’s Oktoberfest festival – will  all be available at the Brisbane German Club.

Finding all six official Oktoberfest breweries on tap, outside of Munich, in a single location, is a difficult feat, with the venue team confident that this may be the first time in Australia that all six beers will be available together.

As a result Australian beer lovers will get the rare opportunity over the course of four weekends, between Friday 3 October and Sunday 26 October to try them all at the Vulture Street venue.

Over the month, the festival will showcase each brewery’s flagship offering, from Augustiner-Bräu’s time-honoured traditional brewing methods to Hofbräu’s world-famous legacy, Löwenbräu’s distinctive character, Paulaner’s innovative excellence, Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu’s historic significance, and Hacker-Pschorr-Bräu’s refined craftsmanship.

The Brisbane German Club Manager Trent Boyle commented on the cultural significance of securing all six beers on tap for the Brisbane community.

“The historic achievement not only helps position Brisbane as a global destination for serious beer connoisseurs but elevates Queensland’s reputation as a hub for authentic international cultural experiences,” he said.

“To be the first location in Australia to make it happen is incredible, and we believe this is potentially also a world-first. Not even in Germany can you find this array in one single venue. Even at the holy Oktoberfest grounds at Theresienwiese in Munich if you want to try draft Bier from each brewery you need to attend each individual venue/tent.”

Boyle said the bier that is a part of the Munich celebration follows strict guidelines to ensure quality and continue tradition.

“While Bier is synonymous with Oktoberfest, not just any brewery can carry the title of an Oktoberfest brewery. The Munich Brewers’ Association dictates that only Bier brewed using water from deep wells within Munich’s gravel plain and fully produced within the city limits of Munich that adheres to specific criteria, can be served at the festival. It ensures that quality and tradition are upheld but it also makes securing all six breweries for the same event a near-impossible feat.”

The Brisbane German Club’s annual celebrations – now in its fifty-first year – represents an important piece of cultural heritage in the city, with the club cementing itself as the beating heart of Queensland’s German-Australian community.

In 2025, approximately 130 different beer styles with be on show including 30 flowing from taps and 100 varieties in the bottle collection – everything from Spaten-Franziskaner’s zesty wheat ‘Franziskaner Hefe’ to the world’s oldest dark beer, Weltenburger Kloster’s Dunkel.

Beyond this year’s beer milestone, Brisbane’s passion for the Oktoberfest event is reflected each year by the more than 6,000 enthusiastic festivalgoers that attend.

Annually, around 28,000 individual bier units flow from taps and coolers, totalling 15,035 litres of bier that require around 301 kegs to satisfy crowds.

The Oktoberfest festivities go beyond bier with over 1,900 schnitzels and close to 1,000 pork knuckles served up.

The popular sausage-eating contest also returns this year alongside keg-holding and stein-holding challenges. Guests are also invited to watch the Alpenrosen dancers glide across the floor in traditional costume and cheer on the hopefuls vying for the coveted Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest titles.

The Brisbane German Club’s Oktoberfest will take place over four weekends from Friday 3 October to Sunday 26 October.
