Coopers Brewery has unveiled its first-ever non-alcoholic beer and the latest addition to its permanent range, Coopers Zero.
Tapping into the fastest growing beer category in Australia, the launch comes as the no- and low-alcohol category continues its rapid rise, with non-alcoholic beer now surpassing light beer in both volume and retail value, according to data from Circana.
The silver-canned beer was brewed from Coopers Pale Malt, Crystal Malt and Malted Wheat, resulting in a balanced beer with subtle hop aroma and moderate bitterness. Packaged at 0.5 per cent ABV, Coopers Zero has just 49 calories per can.
Coopers Managing Director Michael Shearer says Coopers Zero is a great alternative to full or mid-strength beer that doesn’t compromise on flavour.
“More and more Australians want a beer/life balance. We set out to develop and deliver a great-tasting, full flavoured beer to cater for Australians seeking to lower their alcohol intake or switch up their drinking habits.
“Coopers has a proven track record in low-alcohol beer and we’ve drawn upon this experience and our 163 years of brewing heritage to create Coopers Zero. Our brewing team were determined not to compromise on the renowned quality and taste of a Coopers beer.
“The result is a refreshing, easy-drinking beer with moderate bitterness – a non-alcoholic option brewed in the traditional style and which suits all drinking occasions.”
As the latest permanent addition to Coopers’ portfolio, after the launch of Coopers Australian Lager in 2023, the release is supported by a national marketing campaign themed around ‘beer/life balance’, highlighting lifestyle changes and shifting drinking habits. Coopers’ own research conducted by TRA shows younger Australians aged 18-44 are twice as likely to consume no- and low-alcohol products as those aged 45 and over.
Coopers Zero is now available nationally in 375ml cans, and will feature at Coopers sponsored venues and events.
