Mountain Culture Beer Co. will begin brewing in Tasmania tomorrow, with the official launch of its new production site and taproom in Hobart.
The new brewery and taproom – acquired earlier this year from Fox Friday Brewing after it entered voluntary administration – marks Mountain Culture’s first Tasmanian venue, and an opportunity for the brewery to embed itself in Hobart’s craft beer scene.
DJ McCready, Co-founder and CEO of Mountain Culture, says: “We have always dreamt of bringing Mountain Culture to Hobart. Not just dropping beers off on a pallet, but building a proper home and brewing our beer locally.
“The locals have a real passion for adventure, the outdoors and have a great beer drinking community, which is what we are all about. And opening this taproom gives us the opportunity to engage with the community and not just service them which we are really excited about.”
Having transitioned from Fox Friday Hobart Taproom to Mountain Culture Hobart, the brewery’s full core range and limited releases will be available at the venue, on tap and in takeaways. The team plans to showcase exclusive Tasmanian brews crafted on-site and food will also be on offer, with a menu of taproom classics such as burgers and chicken wings, and Mountain Culture’s fan-favourite frickles.
Bernie Jones, Hospitality Group General Manager, stated: “Tasmania, especially Hobart, has long been a destination for craft beer in Australia. We’re excited to be jumping in feet first and being a part of that community.”
The Hobart taproom is the fifth venue for the Blue Mountains brewery, having opened the doors to its first Melbourne brewpub last month – a site that was also acquired and rebranded in Mountain Culture’s Fox Friday acquisition. The acquisition, which was announced in May, also included the award-winning Carwyn Cellars in Thornbury, which has since returned to its founding hands; the Fox Friday Perth Brewpub, which was on-sold to Rocky Ridge Brewing Co; and the Moonah Hotel & Cellars, which has continued to operate as usual.
