Winner of three GABS Hottest 100 polls, Mountain Culture has announced it has acquired Fox Friday Brewing and its associated entities from its administrators.
Those associated assets include the award-winning Carwyn Cellars store in Thornbury as well as Fox Friday’s taprooms in Hobart, Melbourne and Perth, plus the Moonah Hotel & Cellars in Hobart.
In a brief statement Mountain Culture Co-Founders DJ and Harriet McCready, “We’re so excited. We really respect Fox Friday not just for their awesome beer, but the local communities they have built.
“This is a chance to not just continue the amazing growth of our brand and connect in a really authentic way with those new communities, but also to do what’s right for them and the craft industry as a whole.”
While the team has not shared any details about their plans for the acquisitions, they did say the short-term focus is “to meet with the teams and build transition plans for each individual venue”. They also promised that more exciting details on future plans would be shared soon.
Fox Friday was founded in 2019 in Tasmania and quickly became a rising star in Australia’s craft beer scene, known for its hazy and American-style beers.
The group went into voluntary administration in April following an ASIC investigation into its primary lender Falcon Capital. The investigation came after concerns about Falcon’s management and associated risks to investors and saw the Federal Court appoint liquidators to wind up Falcon.
This is another step in the growth of Mountain Culture, which has gained fans across Australia after its GABS Hottest 100 wins, and also acquiring the former home of Atomic Brewing in Redfern, and taking on Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins as an investor.
Stay tuned for more updates from Mountain Culture and its plans for the Fox Friday sites with Beer & Brewer.
