Heaps Normal has introduced a bold, limited new addition to its growing non-alc portfolio, Jazz Stout.

Designed as a celebration of the shared egnimatic qualities of jazz music and stout, the limited-edition release was crafted with Australian Cascade, Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops.

The result is an alcohol-free stout that boasts rich aromas of coffee and cocoa, with a soft, velvety body and balanced bitterness. On the palate, Jazz Stout has a subtle earthy spice and herbal depth, with a light citrus lift coming from the Australian Cascade hops. The finish is clean and dry, with tasting notes describing a “lingering roast and a gentle, spicy hop fade”.

Heaps Normal’s Co-founder and Head Brewer, Ben Holdstock, says: “What do jazz and stout have in common? Both are pretty weird to an outsider but make perfect sense when you’re a fan. With its rich malt riffs and velvet notes, our new limited-edition brew goes big on flavour for those who have acquired a taste for the bittersweet allure of stout… and jazz, for that matter.

“It’s the perfect rich winter brew, with none of the hangover,” he added.

Jazz Stout is already available to buy from Heaps Normal’s online store and at select retailers around the country, including P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants’ stores in Paddington and Enmore – where Heaps Normal celebrated the launch on Friday 4 July with a free jazz and stout sampling in collaboration with Tilly Street Jazz Band.

Following in the footsteps of other exclusive releases, such as Cheeky IPA and Tough Stuff Shandy, Jazz Stout is here for a limited time only. In addition to its off-premise availability, the beer is also available to enjoy in select venues around the country, including the Eltham Hotel in the Northern Rivers and the Petersham Bowling Club in Sydney’s Inner West.
