Craft brewery Urban Alley will open its second Melbourne brewpub next week when the doors of its new $5 million venue open in Wantirna’s Knox Westfield Ozone precinct.

Taking the space of the Seamus O’Toole Irish Pub, which closed its doors in 2019, the 1,000-square-metre, 750 person capacity Urban Alley Brewery Knox will double the brewery’s volume while the multi-level, indoor and outdoor venue will also house a gin distillery run by Tasmanian-born producers Dasher + Fisher.

Urban Alley said they hope the new brewpub will draw large crowds to the already popular entertainment precinct, provide a family friendly destination with regular entertainment, live music with 3am trading, trivia events and a “classic pub menu with a modern twist”.

Formerly known as Collins Street Brewing and having previously brewed their beers via contract, Urban Alley opened their flagship brewpub in the Docklands area of Melbourne in 2018.

“The local community has long missed having a local brewery to call their own,” Urban Alley CEO and co-founder Dean Grant said. “Urban Alley Brewery will become the new local institution to fill this gap.

“Not only are we putting Knox Ozone back on the map for great beer, gin and a premium pub feed, Urban Alley Brewery Knox will allow us to increase our production to continue to serve customers Australia-wide.”

Much like their Docklands venue, the brewery will be a central focus of the venue with a row of fermenters forming the backdrop to the bar while the gin distillery will also be on show.

To celebrate the new location, Urban Alley is honouring the precinct with a specially brewed Ozone Pacific Ale as well as a Gin & Beer cocktail Plummy Brew, in collaboration with Dasher + Fisher using Ocean Gin, which recently won gold at the London Spirits Competition.

Urban Alley Brewery Knox will open its doors on May 12 and will be open seven days a week at Shop 2215 Knox Ozone, Wantirna South VIC 3152 from midday till late.
