The Brewer’s Guild of New Zealand is happy to announce the return of the Sutton Group as naming-rights sponsor their Awards again in 2012.
“Sutton Group is proud to be closely associated with the brewing industry, so we see sponsoring the awards as a perfect fit. We are delighted to return as naming sponsors again in 2012”, says Brent Sutton, Managing Director of Sutton Group.
President of the Guild, Ralph Bungard, of Three Boys Brewery, agrees. “A key mission of the Brewer’s Guild is celebrating the craft of brewing and our annual awards are central to that mission through the recognition of excellence. Pairing again with Sutton is a fantastic result for the Guild.”

Taking place on Thursday August 16 in Wellington, the Awards will be announced at a black tie dinner. The pinnacle of the achievement in New Zealand brewing, the awards saw a record number of entries from across the country and overseas in last year’s competition. And with the number of new breweries arriving on the scene, as well as exciting brews from established brands, the Guild expect to see some challenging brews in the 2012 repertoire.
“There’s no doubt that we’re on the upswing currently,” says Bungard. “There’s an enthusiasm for quality beer and a thirst for knowledge that is promising for the industry as a whole”.
Last year saw 8 Wired Brewing taking out Champion New Zealand Brewery.
