The brewing brainchild of famed beer writer Willie Simpson and co-founder Catherine Stark is celebrating it’s fifth year in business with big things planned for fans of the brewery and organic hop farm.

From 12 noon on Tuesday 23 April Seven Sheds will be hosting a Tap Take Over at the New Sydney Hotel in Hobart. It is a fitting location for the celebration as the hotel has served every new Seven Sheds brew – often exclusively – on tap in the five years of the brewery’s production.

The brews on tap include Simpson’s regular brews, such as Kentish Ale (on handpump), Willie Warmer, Paradise Pale, Razzamatazz and Elephant’s Trunk, and there will also be some seasonal magic with Stella IPA, Wood-aged IPA, Serendipity (the new Raspberry/Blackberry Honey Wheat Ale), Fuggled Porter (one of our two 2013 hop harvest brews) and
Royal Willie (11.5% ABV whisky cask-matured Willie Warmer).

A special Platinum HOPS (Hobart Organoleptic PractitionerS) session will also be held in honour of the occasion at 6pm Wednesday 24 April (upstairs at the New Sydney) featuring five Seven Sheds beers matched with an inspired selection of food. The brews will include a small keg of Up Ya Kilt – a whisky-matured Smokin’ Bagpipes brew, where peated Scotch Ale meets peated Tassie whisky.

There is also talk about a a second ferry-aged beer project in conjunction with Spirit of Tasmania after the runaway success of the Bass Straight IPA that saw barrels of IPA roughly recreate the length of the journey originally taken by IPAs en route to the colonies in India.
