Sanctus Brewing Co has now opened its doors to its local Clarence Valley community, as is launching in Melbourne at the end of the month.

The brewery features a 15hL two-vessel system, as well as a canning line with an auto-depalletiser to pump out 30 cans per minute. It is located on 5 Re Road, Townsend in the Clarence Valley, NSW, between Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay.

“It’s the place we like to call God’s country,” says Michael Lee, Sanctus’ media spokesperson. “It has everything that ‘s to love about Australia. Sun, surf, fishing, great produce, awesome and a real ‘keep it local theme’.”

The brewery hopes to win over locals, regardless of their experience with craft beer. It has plans to engage with local communities and welcomes collaborations with other independent breweries.

“Our Pacific Cast Lager is the beer you’d introduce to your Uncle Gazza,” adds Lee. “It’s an easy drinking golden hued lager with a smooth, complete finish. Picture yourself toiling away in the cane fields on a hot and humid summers day and then diving head first into a deep cavern of ice cold water. That’s our Pacific Coast Lager.”

Other beers in the Sanctus range include Big River XPA, Blueberry Crush, Valley Pale Ale and Imperial Stout.

“When it comes to craft beer, fresh is best and our approach is about simplicity,” says Sanctus’ head brewer Banjo Hillier. “Each ingredient is the start of something new and exciting for us on the pathway towards what we all want and love – good beer.”

The brewery will have a full commercial kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven and there is also a Texas smoker for classic American BBQ ribs and brisket.

“From the moment people walk in we want to create a lasting memory and positive customer experience,” says Lee. “From the floor to ceiling green wall, to the rustic timber finishings, to the outside open grassed area and beer garden, we know it starts with beer but we are offering so much more to locals and beer lovers from all over Australia.”

The brewery will launch in Melbourne on 29 November at Melbourne Cellar Door, 25 Dukes Walk, South Wharf.
