Bluefreight Project Logistics has announced a coastal refrigerated shipping service for Australian craft brewers.

The service will allow brewers to move small to large shipments from the east to west coast of Australia by sea in refrigerated shipping containers, as opposed to coast-to-coast trucking services. Brewers can choose between regular shared shipments through to single container loads, meaning that smaller brewers who don’t require as much space can still use the service.

“There is currently no service like this in Australia,” says Richard Dexter, managing director of Bluefreight Project Logistics. “While you can ship coast-to-coast, no one has structured the service for the unique needs of craft brewers, and in smaller loads. We already handle full container loads for a few brewers, however now we are aiming for a regular scheduled service offering space by the pallet for smaller brewers.

“The Australian craft beer community is really supportive and this service really reflects the collaborative nature of the industry. By offering brewers the opportunity to share container loads we’re removing the exclusivity of shipping and giving all brewers the opportunity to get their delicious product out to even more craft beer lovers.”

The company plans to offer the same service to Shanghai and Beijing – where is growing demand for Australian beers – in the future.
