More commonly know for its wine, the village of Martinborough will soon be embracing the amber nectar with the introductions of the inaugural Greater Wellington BrewDay.

To be held on April 6th2013, the event will bring together over 12 breweries from the greater Wellington region. According to event organiser Karen Aitken, along with the well-known breweries – like Tuatara, Garage Project, Parrot Dog, Yeastie Boys and Peak Brewery – many new breweries are also set to showcase their wares.

“A lot of beers, not previously released before, will enjoy their first outing at BrewDay and that’s really exciting,” she says.

The festivals promises to present some fantastic beers with Pete Gillespie of Garage Project promising that his team will turn up with a selection of new beers that hopefully challenge perceived notions of what beer can be.

They will be joined by Parrot Dog, Fork & Brewer, Blackdog Brewery, Yeastie Boys, Funk Estate, Kereru Brewing (Wellington); Tuatara, Longbeach (Kapiti), Martinborough Brewery, 50 Knots, Regent 58 and Peak Brewery (Wairarapa).

Additionally, Wairarapa based Crooked Cider, ZUMWOHL – a German-style Schnapps made in New Zealand – and Hardie Boys Ginger Beer will also be in attendance.

Food will be provided by Wakelin House, Fork & Brewer, Peppers Parehua, Big Bad Wolf and Long Beach.
