One of Newcastle’s foodie destinations will be welcoming a new tenant, with
the Hop Factory Craft Beer Café and Restaurant set to open in Darby Street.

Located in Cook’s Hill in Newcastle’s inner city, Darby Street is home to
several Newcastle institutions and is a popular destination for both food and
drink, marking the Hop Factory as a welcome addition.

The Hop Factory experience will represent the family run business’ unique interpretation of a beer café with a focus on gourmet food and matched beers (and wine for the non-beer lover). On the bar the venue will feature 16 rotating taps of both local and imported craft beer.

With many details still under wraps, tone detail to be released so far is
the bar’s emblem, which is a leaping Jackalope – a horned creature from North
American folklore that is half-rabbit, half-antelope.

The bar put out a call for staff with a “keen interest for craft beer, fine wine, great
food/coffee and all things unique” on social media this week, while the
management of The Hop Factory told Beer & Brewer their aim was to
open in late September.
