Southern Highlands Brewing is transforming its Taphouse into a Munich style Beer Hall for Oktoberfest from 22 September – 7 October.
Southern Highlands Brewing Taphouse will be transformed from 22 September to 7 October with a German theme, it will be Munich in Moss Vale to celebrate Oktoberfest. Beer, sauerkraut and lederhosen….Prost! Munich is based near the Southern Highlands in German and it was thought fitting to celebrate the traditional festival in the Southern Highlands of Australia.
Southern Highlands brewer Cameron “Camo” James has dusted off the steins and collated a great trio of German beers for the festival. The cornerstone will be the standard offering the Firkin Helles, a crisp Euro lager. He has also bought back one of the brewery’s favourite seasonal beers, the Weizen Owl, a classic Weissbier exuding Bananas and cloves. To commemorate the festival, Camo has also brewed up a special Oktoberfest Beer, an Amber Lager, a malty number with a clean finish. These beers will complement the Brewer’s core range of 7 locally brewed beers.
The beers will be paired with a themed menu for the festival. The Taphouse Head Chef has created traditional German faire, including Bratwurst and sauerkraut, schnitzels galore, pretzels to soak up the beer and for the sweet tooths the good old-fashioned Apple Strudel.
There is rumour circulating the street of the Southern Highlands that we may even see Camo and the renowned Taphouse General Manager in in lederhosen and great Taphouse girls in dirndls. The core to the Taphouse is it beer hall inspired tables which will be the centrepiece of all things German the Highlands for the 3 weekends.
