Tasmania’s original beer festival, the Tasmanian International Beerfest, and award-winning breweryMoo Brew are joining forces to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival by brewing a unique, strictly limited-edition beer, the ‘Macquarie Enigma’.
Macquarie Enigma will be a one-of-a-kind, with 100 per cent Tasmanian content; Macquarie Barley and Enigma Hops, and also a ‘SMaSH beer’- a Single Malt, and Single Hop Beer.
Moo Brew head brewer and general manager Dave Macgill saidHop Products Australia’s newest release, Enigma, will give the Macquarie Enigma beer a light body and a unique hop aroma.
“The SMaSH approach is the simplest way to showcase the raw materials in the brewing process, not complicating the malt palate by using specialty malts and allowing the hop aroma to come to the forefront,” Macgill said.
Festival director Ben Hickey said Macquarie Enigma will be amazing, a truly limited-edition beer, only available in draught at the Tasmanian Beerfest.
“Tasmanian fine beer and cider is finally taking its rightful place on the Tasmania epicurean palate and Macquarie Enigma will be the centrepiece of the 10th anniversary festival.
“It wasn’t that long ago that the only beer Australians were offered were relatively sweet lagers, now there is a whole flavour spectrum for people to explore.
“More drinkers want to know the provenance of their beer. This is not just any beer. Also using locally-grown barley, it’s the first all-Tasmanian bred beer in a long time.
“We can’t wait to release Macquarie Enigma to beer lovers at the 10th anniversary Tasmanian Beerfest on 14 November,” said Hickey.
Beerfest is totally subscribed with breweries set to showcase their beer and a waiting list of 20 for any cancellations.
