With an epic line-up of bands and breweries, Beechworth’s High Country Hop will be music to your beers.
Now in its sixth year, Beechworth’s much-loved High Country Hop returns on March 27 and 28 in an all-new location but with the same old epic line-up of fresh and unique beers plus music, food, wine and spirits.
Founded by Bridge Road Brewers in 2015, The Hop will take place for the first time in Beechworth’s picturesque historic precinct.
Bridge Road’s founder Ben Kraus said: “I’m really proud, not only for the business and our team, but for Beechworth and the region to be able to announce The High Country Hop this year. Last year was such a downer for everyone given a summer of bushfires and smoke, followed by the lockdowns. Beer festivals globally haven’t really happened at all for the past 12 months, so it really is significant to be in a position to commit to our own this year.”
Bridge Road beers will be available alongside ones from fellow locals Billson’s Brewery, Bright Brewery, Mitta Mitta Brewing, Crankhandle Brewery, King River Brewing and Black Dog Brewery while Range Brewing from Brisbane, and East Gippsland’s Sailor’s Grave will be also on show.
Brisbane’s best heavy beer event is happening on April Fool’s Day – no joke
Now in its fourth year, Fritzenberger’s heavy beer event the Double Digit Duke Out will be held on Thursday April 1st from 6pm. Going head to head to be crowed the Double Digit Duke Out champ, each brewery will present a limited-edition beer that follows the year’s theme and has an ABV of 10% or higher. The theme of this year’s event is fittingly ‘something foolish’ and it needs to be incorporated in the beer or beer-making process in some way.
The competitors in this year’s Double Digit Duke Out are: The reigning champion Brewditos, local legends Brisbane Brewing Co., the newest kids on the local block Sealegs Brewings Co. and the hosts Fritzenberger.
There is also the chance to win a year’s supply of burgers on the night. If you share your beery pictures during the Double Digit Event on Instagram using #fritzenberger & #doubeldigitdukeout you will go in the draw to win. The winner will be announced at 8.30pm during the event. They must be onsite to win.
This year Fritzenberger are offering discounted pre-sale tickets for $55 (worth $80). Pre-sale tickets include your first tasting paddle of the four heavy beers and include the one-hour food package filled with Fritzen favourites like their buffalo wings, sliders, mac n cheese bites and much more. Formerly known as Perth Craft Beer Festival, it returns to Claremont Showgrounds to dish up more than 65 breweries and a host of food, music and other entertainment. With two massive beer halls, including a new German Oktoberfest-themed Bier Haus, the event will be filled with a mix of quality drops from Australia soil and beyond, where curation help has been provided by Feral founder Will Irving who is the Froth Town Ambassador. Split in to four sessions (Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday day 10am – 4pm, Saturday evening 5pm – 10pm, Sunday day 12pm – 6pm), tickets go on sale February 18.
As part of the Adelaide Food Fringe program of events from May 7 to 16 McLaren Vale’s Swell Brewing Co are hosting a three course dinner matched with four of their beers – including the launch of their new small batch chocolate stout made in collaboration with SA legends Melba’s Chocolates. The Dark Stormy Seas Dinner is on Thursday 13 May at Swell’s taphouse on Olivers Road and patrons will get a chance to meet the brewers. Tickets are $80pp and bookings are essential for this no doubt popular evening.
After cancelling the inaugural program in April last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Adelaide Food Fringe festival’s comeback has been made possible thanks to the continued support of the likes of Pirate Life, City of Adelaide and new major partner Never Never Distilling Co.
The Adelaide Food Fringe will take place across nine days from Friday 7 May to Sunday 16 May and will showcase South Australia’s diverse food and beverage businesses, venues, clubs, producers, multi-cultural communities and cultural institutions.
The Good Beer Week’s third annual South East Beer festival is back to celebrate the indie breweries from Melbourne’s south east. Hosted at Bad Shepherd, they’ll be blocking off the street to showcase the best of Bayside with the likes of Jetty Road, Two Bays Brewing, Kaiju, Exit, Bojak Brewing, Stomping Ground, Mr Banks, Boatrocker and more. There will be more than 80 beers on offer as well as food trucks, kids’ entertainment, games, prizes, live music, and it’s dog friendly! The Sunshine Coast’s ‘cellar-bration’ of all things Craft Beer & Cider is moving to its new home in 2021 at the brand new NightQuarter entertainment precinct in Birtinya from May 28 – 30. The event will take place across four separate sessions due to COVID rules on crowds. There are a maximum 1,200 spots at each session and these kick off on Friday 28th May at 5pm, followed by the most popular Saturday sessions on 29th May at 11.30am and 5pm finishing off with the lazy Sunday session at 12pm on the 30th May. Over 30 of Australia’s best brewers and cideries have been handpicked to showcase their favourite brews and latest creations to the Sunshine Coast’s growing craft audience.
