How to scale up production with a brewery centrifuge
Craft brewers in Australia and New Zealand need to look at the challenges that come with producing at larger scale. Consistency and quality, which means consistency in recipe, being able to deal with product losses and being able to produce multiple recipes at a time. That’s why typically the first piece of equipment that brewers are looking for as they are scaling production is a beer centrifuge, or separator.
Head here for more details and to register your interest.
Alfa Laval’s global craft brewery process and centrifuge technology expert, Joakim Gustafsson, would like to share with you some tips and know-how for centrifuges in beer production.
In this exclusive webinar for Australia and New Zealand, you will learn:
- The working principles of beer centrifuges and its different functionalities (e.g. clarification and polishing)
- How much beer can brewers recover with a centrifuge
- How to produce beers with a longer shelf life
- How to choose the best centrifuge for your brewery
- Real world customer stories from your peers using Alfa Laval Brew centrifuges

Celebrate the best of South Australian beer, food and music at Beer & BBQ Festival HomeBrewed
Beer & BBQ Festival’s inaugural HomeBrewed festival, the summertime sibling of the annual winter event, is gearing up for a weekend-long celebration at the Adelaide Showgrounds from February 5th – 7th 2021.
After a COVID-related postponement, the open-air event will come to life across the Hamilton Boulevard and Jubilee Plaza, with a jam-packed line up full of amazing local brewers, BBQ’ers and musicians (as well as some interstate buddies), alongside competitions, live street art, karaoke and heaps more.
“It’s been a wild ride the past 10 months for us, the brewers, the chefs and the artists so we just can’t wait to give them a platform to do their thing. There have been so many challenges, but we are so proud of the line-up and those contributing to the fest. Special thanks to our punters who have held on to their tickets and shown such an appetite for what we have in store” says event organiser, Aaron Sandow.
The Beer & BBQ Festival team have been working closely with SA Health since July 2020 to ensure best practice in delivering a safe, COVID-friendly event, including ample sanitization, heightened cleaning procedures, contract tracing, and plenty of space in the open-air venue.
“Our goal is to deliver the best experience possible to our festival-goers in the current climate. Being open-air is great, punters will be able to meander the site at their leisure, visiting brewers, watching a band and eating the delicious BBQ on offer, while remaining safe” says Sandow.
New additions to the festival line-up include:
Beer: The Gilbert Street Hotel’s International Sour Bar will debut at HomeBrewed with Adelaide’s best beer pub sourcing some seriously special kegs from around the world including Firestone Walker (USA), Cascade (USA), Rodenbach (Belgium), Jester King (USA), De Moersleutel (Netherlands), Wildflower (NSW), Cervisiam (Norway), Lone Gum Farmhouse (SA), 8 Wired (NZ), Tallboy & Moose (Vic) & One Drop (NSW)
BBQ: Wing’s World (the party time, excellent worldwide debut) slinging hot wings by the kilo, Sneaky Tiki (from the legendary team behind Sneaky Pickle) building bang on tacos, RG’s Home of Low’n’Slow doing American BBQ right and Sooki La La bring the Asian BBQ party.
Beats: Los Palms, Rat Ta’Mango, Thom Lion, Lazaro’s Dog, The Young & The Wrestlers and DJs across two stages.
Beer & BBQ Festival was scheduled to go ahead during December 2020 but was postponed due to South Australia’s second lockdown.
