The competition, commonly known as The Oscars of Brewing, attracted over 800 entries in the 2011 awards and the organisers are determined to make 2013 an even bigger event.
The International Brewing Awards are the longest-established international brewing competition, with all beers judged by working brewers only – a unique feature – with the panel of more than 30 experts being drawn from across the globe and from all sectors, from craft to multinational.
Judging for the 2013 competition will be held 13-15 February in Burton-upon-Trent, England, with Bill Taylor, of Lion Breweries, confirmed as the chairman of judges.
As previously announced the 2013 competition will feature two new cider categories as well as a new Special Hop Beer class within the Speciality Beer category – designed for beers with a “uniquely innovative or intense hop character”. These additions aim to evolve the market relevance of the competition as the landscape changes.
The entry fee has been kept the same as the 2011 rate at £150 (+VAT for the UK) per beer or cider.Entries are now open and will close 31 December 2012.
