The 2012 Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show Beer & Cider competition has opened up for entries.

There will be ten classes judged in 2012: Golden Lagers – Continental / Pilsener Style; Golden Lagers – Australian Style; Dark Lagers; Pale Ales; Golden Ales; Amber and Dark Ales; Stouts; Porters; Wheat Beers; and Strong Beers (min ABV 6.0%).

This year marks the launch of the Cider division of the contest, with four competition classes: Apple Ciders; Pear Ciders; Any other single cider flavours; and Combined Cider Flavours.

The judging panel will be led by Master Brewer Ian Chant, formerly of Power Brewing and Lion Nathan, alongside Chairman of Judges Mr Russel Smith.
