Entries are now open for the Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show.
Judges will taste and award entries from 40 classes, which include bottled and draught beers and ciders.
The Awards Presentation will take place in Hall 6 Sydney Showground on Saturday 11 August 2018 from 12pm at the public tasting event Grape, Grain & Graze Festival, formerly Wine Experience, where over 500 beer, cider and wine consumers will have the chance to taste the the winning beers. Confidential feedback will be give by the judges on every exhibit, while winner will receive marketing tools to boost their sales, as well as the opportunity to present and promote their products at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
In total, 16 styles of beer will be judged, in packaged and then in draught: Golden Lager – Pilsner Style; Gold Lagers – Australian Style; Golden Lagers – International Style; Golden Lagers – Other Style; Dark Lagers; Pale Ales – Australian Style; Pale Ale – American Style; Pale Ales – India Pale Ale; Pale Ales – Other Styles; Amber and Dark Ales; Stouts and Porters; Wheat Beer; Strong Beer – Belgian; Strong Beers – English, Scottish, American or Other; Experimental and Specialty Beers; Reduced Alcohol Beer. There will also be four styles of cider and four styles of perry judged (dry, medium, sweet and bottle condition).
“Of course the Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show sets out to recognise and celebrate the very best product and producers we have in Australia, but it also offers up-and-coming beer and cider makers an opportunity to gain individual feedback from our expert judges,” comments Neal Cameron, the chair of judges for the 2018 show. “It is a rapidly expanding sector which lends itself to seemingly endless creative options and that is why last year for the first time we introduced a dedicated Experimental and Specialty Beer Champion category.”
Entries for this year’s Sydney Royal Beer and Cider Show close at 5pm, Wednesday 16 May 2018. Judging will take place on Tuesday 24 July in the Southee Pavilion at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. The entry fee is $130.
