DB Breweries has released a statement reporting that longstanding Managing Director Brian Blake is stepping down after 20 years in the MD/CEO position.

However he is not leaving the comapny entirely, and will remain as chairman.

Blake, who originally joined the company in 1983 as Finance Director, says that now is the right time to leave, especially as the brewery is in such a good financial position, despite the slowing beer market.

“I
am extremely pleased with our results over the past three years,” he says. “
Naturally
I have mixed feelings as I step aside as DB is really an extended
family of committed and passionate people who have built an iconic New
Zealand company. DB has developed an amazing culture and it’s been a
real privilege to have been part of the DB team.”

Blake’s successor will be appointed in the coming months.
