The much loved Ballarat Beer Festival is on this weekend, featuring an array of all things Ballarat, boutique beer, gourmet food and great Australian music.

Now in its second year, the festival is set to showcase more bands, more breweries and more fun.And with that in mind the festival organisers have launched the Ballarat Beer Festival App, which is now available to download for free from iTunes.

The app has everything you need to know to plan your day at the Festival including information on the over 40 brewers as well as tasting notes on the 150 beers and ciders on offer. Plus the detailed Site Map will help you easily find your favourites. They’ve even added a function to record your own thoughts as you go.

Headlining this years’ festival is folk-rock band The Beards fresh from their sell-out national tour. They only have one topic – beards, obviously – but they are infinitely interesting when it comes to all thing hirsute.

For festivalgoers travelling to Ballarat for the day, information on transport and parking can be found at www.ballaratbeerfestival.com. If travelling from Melbourne there are dedicated coaches departing from several locations. Check the website for details in advance as year two looks set to repeat the success of 2012 which was a sellout on the day.
