Did you miss the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular this year? Well, never fear as your chance to taste some amazing, innovative beers has not been missed forever. On Saturday 2 June 2012, a selection of the beers featured at GABS will be available at the Local Taphouse Darlinghurst at their ‘Best of GABS’ event. While in Melbourne, The Local Taphouse St Kilda East will see four weeks of more GABS beers on tap. Luck things.
As for this year’s SpecTAPular, it was a resounding success with three jammed packed days of beer lovers flocking to the event. The four converted shipping container bars served patrons through 240 taps, connected to over 1,200 kegs.
All of the beers were well received but at the end of the day it was The Yeastie Boys took home the Dan Murphy’s People’s Choice Award for their Gunnamatta beer. While we didn’t get to try it personally the tasting notes suggest it had: a citrus explosion with grapefruit and lemon hop flavours intermingling with the pungent bergamot orange and leafy aromatics of the Earl Grey Blue Flower English tea.
Can’t wait to see what they dream up next year.
