Renowned Melbourne cocktail bar, The Everleigh, has collaborated with Dainton Brewing to launch Manhattan Ale, the first in a series of drinks bridging the gap between classic cocktails and craft beer.

A rich ale of malted rye and spicy noble hops, Manhattan Ale is aged in Tasmanian whisky barrels and French oak shiraz casks. The beer is directly inspired by the infamous Manhattan cocktail, a stirred combination of sweet vermouth, rye whiskey and Angostura Bitters.

“It’s a concept that’s been on my mind a few years now, bridging the gap between classic cocktails and craft beer. Manhattan Ale is to be the first in our “Cocktail Series” and was thought as a beer that could emulate the Manhattan cocktail. Not replace but compliment,” said The Everleigh owner Michael Madrusan.

“Like the cocktail, the ale is rye based and then aged in whisky barrels and red wine casks giving the ale a richness you would find in a Manhattan with the vermouth.”

Manhattan Ale carries 6.9%ABV and is available for distribution through Northdown, Craft Beer Movement, over the bar at The Everleigh and at all participating retailers and venues.
