On tap at selected venues, the ‘new world craft Lager’ is a new addition to the South Australia-based McLaren Vale Beer Company.

Head brewer Jeff Wright, says that the new brew is the company’s interpretation of what a craft Lager should be.

“VALE/LGR is…approachable, sessionable, balanced and flavoursome,” he says. “What we have tried hard to achieve is an old-world backbone with a traditional European Lager body, but with the artful addition of new world hops.’

Wright also added that the beer is made to be enjoyed by craft and mainstream beer fans alike.

“We think that Australia is in need of a great craft lager that is harmonious with old world drinkers but that will also engage craft drinkers who are looking for something lighter with flavour,” says Wright.

Filtered, and with a medium carbonation, the beer uses Pilsner, Carapils and Light Munich malts, while the hop bill includes the German Tettnang, Australia’s Helga, and Pacifica and Waimea from New Zealand.
