Re:We want to hear it: favourite beer of all time! - 2008/08/12 17:19 Gotta say the James squire pepperberry winter ale is a top drop..well worth it when it was $47 per case on spec.
Also the Fullers ESB and London Pride ales are a special treat and have moved into the 'on an island' selection.

Re:We want to hear it: favourite beer of all time! - 2008/10/23 10:45 1 - Chimay Grand Reserve
2 - Franziskaner Hefeweizen Hell
3 - Matilda Bay Redback Original

I "cellared" the Chimay in a dark cool spot for 1 year. It didnt move in all that time. Bought it out at a mates "return home" party - there was total silence when tasting this delight and amazingly my mate and I both said - at the same time: "Best beer I've ever had!" We werent wrong.

Re:We want to hear it: favourite beer of all time! - 2008/10/28 08:26 Depends on the occasion but overall top of the bunch would have to be Tripel Karmeliet. The 2 problems with this is $9 each at my local bottle store and often they have been on the shelf for far too long and not in ideal conditions.

Best Aussie brew would have to be Little Creature Pale Ale.

Best NZ brew - Emersons IPA (in fact pretty much anything in the Emersons range)

- In my humble opinion of course :o)

Re:We want to hear it: favourite beer of all time! - 2008/10/28 08:29 couldnt agree more roddersf.

I had a Chimay Grand Reserve from 2005 which I had stored in a dark cool cupboard. It only gets better! I recently went to Belgium and met a Beer Expert who said ad a Grand Reserve from the 1960's!! I think I would need some new underpanmts after trying that one. Hate to think of the cost of the bottle!!
